PrettyLittleThing
Re-platforming a high-traffic fashion commerce experience for more flexible scale and resilient operations.
The engagement
PrettyLittleThing needed a platform able to handle a growing customer base while controlling infrastructure spend. The program moved commerce capabilities away from the limits of the existing Magento setup toward a serverless, service-based architecture.
As a Junior Project Coordinator at SOFTOO, I supported the weekly delivery rhythm between business and technical teams, helping keep development, QA, infrastructure, and release milestones visible.
01 / The challenge
The existing platform had to serve a large, expanding audience while maintaining a responsive shopping experience.
As traffic increased, the retailer needed a more adaptable operating model and tighter control over the cost of running commerce services.
The program also needed to bring in experienced delivery and engineering capacity while the platform was being reworked.
02 / The delivery
Rework application components around AWS-managed services to improve flexibility as demand changes.
Use a more consistent CI/CD delivery approach so teams can ship changes in smaller, more dependable increments.
Coordinate delivery conversations and project records so business and engineering stakeholders share an accurate view of progress.
Combine team augmentation with ongoing mentorship to help the retailer build and sustain the skills needed for the platform.
03 / Project impact
SOFTOO's published case study reports a platform serving 600,000 daily customers and ยฃ1.5 million in daily revenue, alongside a 60% reduction in infrastructure cost. It also describes stronger platform performance and a more maintainable codebase. These are project-level outcomes.
